1. What stays on your device
Everything the game itself needs is stored only on your device, using the operating system's local app storage:

This data is never uploaded by us. Deleting the app deletes it. We cannot read it, restore it, or connect it to you.
2. What we do not collect
We do not ask for and do not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account
- Your location
- Your contacts, photos, files, microphone, or camera
- Your device advertising identifier (IDFA / GAID) — *our* code never reads it
3. The anonymous installation identifier
On first launch the app generates a random string (for example k3f9a2-7bqx11-0zzp4d) and stores it on your device. It is not your device ID, not your advertising ID, and not an account. It cannot be used to identify you or to follow you across apps or devices. Reinstalling the app produces a new, unrelated string.
Its only purpose is to let anonymous gameplay statistics (such as "how many players finish level 10") be counted per installation rather than per event.
In the current release, no gameplay statistics leave your device. If that changes in a future version, this policy will be updated before the version ships, and the data transmitted will remain limited to app-interaction events and the anonymous installation identifier above.
4. Advertising
Distill shows ads through Google AdMob. Ads are how the game stays free; there is no paid version and no in-app purchase.
Three kinds of ads appear:
- Banner — a small strip below the puzzle, kept clear of every touch target.
- Interstitial — occasionally between levels.
- Rewarded — only when you choose to watch one, in exchange for an in-game help (a hint, a rewind, an extra tube, or skipping a level). You are always told what you get before the ad starts, and you can decline.
In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, Google's consent form appears the first time you open the game. You can change that choice at any time: open the level list (▦) and tap Privacy options at the bottom. The entry only appears where consent rules apply.
Google acts as an independent data controller for advertising and may process data such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device model and operating system, and general ad interaction. We do not receive that data and cannot link it to your gameplay. Google's practices are described here:

Your choices
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, a Google-certified consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) is shown before any personalised ad request. If you decline, the app requests non-personalised ads only and remains fully playable.
- On iOS, this version does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt: because the app never asks for permission, it has no access to the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across apps.
- On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Ad content is limited to a rating of G (General audiences).
5. Children
Distill is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at the address above and we will act on it.
6. Data retention and deletion
Because the app stores data only on your device, you delete all of it by deleting the app. There is no server-side account to erase. For data processed by Google for advertising, use the Google account and device controls linked in section 4.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data. Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device or through Google's controls. For anything else, write to the contact address above and we will respond.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at this address before the corresponding app version is released, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
